<p>The 23<sup>rd</sup> Annual Lake Brantley Principal’s Fund Run &amp; Walk is returning to our campus! Please be that Patriot who MAKES A DIFFERENCE by participating in the 23<sup>rd</sup> Annual Lake Brantley Principal’s 5K Fund Run &amp; Walk to be held on <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 8:00 a.m</span>. at Lake Brantley High School!</p>
<p>We hope you will join the fun as we have planned a spectacular event with something for everyone!  The festivities will begin in the stadium as our runners will start their trek through our beautiful campus, Brantley Harbor and finish the race with a victory lap on our newly renovated track in the stadium. But wait, there’s more! There will be “kiddie races”, a Bounce House and gourmet food trucks to entertain you in style. That’s not all!! Stick around after the race and test drive a new Ford car with our <em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">“Drive One 4UR School”</span></em> fundraising event from 9am – 3 pm, and enjoy the various booths hosted by our many sports teams and clubs. With your constant support, Lake Brantley High School enjoys outstanding facilities and programs for our student athletes!</p>
<p>I would be honored to have you participate this year!  You can support our cause in one of two ways:</p>
<ul>
<li>Make a pledge donation and place it in the enclosed envelope with the pledge card, or</li>
<li>Join me in the race and provide the $20 entry fee and registration form in the enclosed envelope.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Additionally, all Fund Run participants and spectators are asked to support our canned food drive by bringing in any canned food item. We will distribute the items within our LBHS community and our local community to those in need.</span></p>
<p>If you are involved with an athletic team or club, please be sure to indicate this on the <a href="http://lakebrantley.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/2012-LBHS-5K-Registration-final.pdf">registration form</a>. Each team or club specified will receive $10 of your registration fee as a fundraiser for that organization. The first 300 registered participants (prior to May 1st) will receive a specially designed T-shirt. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>May 6, 2012</p>
<p>Dear Parents of Algebra I students,</p>
<p>As stated in the letter you received earlier this year, to earn credit for Algebra I, the Florida Department of Education requires that a student earn a Level 3 or higher on the Algebra I End-of-Course Exam (EOC).  Students completed the computer-based Algebra I EOC May 10-18, 2012. All students must earn credit for Algebra I in order to receive a high school diploma.</p>
<p>If a student does <strong>not</strong> earn a Level 3 or higher on his/her first attempt on the EOC, he/she will need to retake the EOC until he/she earns a proficient score.  The <span style="text-decoration: underline;">first available retake option</span> will be <strong>July 25</strong> or <strong>July 26</strong> at the following high schools: Hagerty, Lake Brantley, Lake Mary, and Winter Springs. Students can participate in the retake at any of the 4 sites, regardless of their zone school. Also, an Algebra I refresher will be offered at all four sites on Tuesday, July 24 for students who wish to receive some extra assistance in preparing for the retake. All students who do not earn a proficient score on the Algebra I EOC in May are eligible for the July retake.</p>
<p>Please carefully note the support options available for students who fail the Algebra I EOC in May:</p>
<ol>
<li> If your student <strong>fails </strong>the Algebra I course and is <strong>not</strong> proficient on the EOC (Level 1 or 2), he/she will repeat the entire Algebra I course in summer school or during the school year 2012-2013 and retake the EOC. Middle school students that earn a C, D or F and high school students that earn a D or F are eligible to retake the course for grade forgiveness (the higher grade replaces the lower grade).</li>
</ol>
<ol>
<li>If your student <strong>passes</strong> the Algebra I course but is <strong>not </strong>proficient on the EOC, he/she may enroll in the <strong>EOC Boot Camp</strong> (June 25-July 12, 2012 from 7:10-1:18 daily). The boot camp will be offered at the following high schools: Hagerty, Lake Brantley, Lake Mary, and Winter Springs. Transportation will be provided and students will be given skill specific assistance to prepare for the Algebra I EOC retake. Students that meet these criteria will be notified of the opportunity to enroll in the EOC Boot Camp as soon as EOC scores have been received sometime in early June.  School personnel will contact you.</li>
</ol>
<p>While it is unknown at this time which students will earn a passing score on the EOC, students and parents are advised to keep the dates in mind when making summer plans.  Because the EOC scores will not be released until after school is out in June, schools will not know which students require the support until shortly before EOC Boot Camp begins.</p>
<p>While it is not required that a student participate in a support option in order to participate in the retake exam, please note that any student who has not passed the Algebra I EOC prior to the start of the 2012-13 school year could have their course schedule impacted.</p>

Our ROTC Cadets are signing up donors this week. When you sign up at one of the tables, you will receive an appointment card for your designated donation time.  Those of you who are 16 and 17, and have never donated before, pick up your permission slips for the sign-up tables this week, have your parents or guardian sign the form in black or blue ink only and bring the form with you on Thursday to the blood drive.  Don&#8217;t forget to bring a picture I.D. with you on the 10th. Don&#8217;t forget to eat breakfast that morning.</p>

<p><strong>Want to see some amazing artwork and photography? Then be sure to visit the 2012 Spring Art Show </strong>at the Seminole Towne Center Mall in Sanford. This annual exhibit features work from all of the Seminole County public school&#8217;s art programs, K-12.  We are located on the first floor in front of &#8220;Macy&#8217;s&#8221; and our display includes work from all the art and photography classes offered at Lake Brantley. The show is on display until the mall closes on Sunday, April 29th.</p>
